We enjoyed the long holiday weekend in Gainesville, FL. Our original plan was to drive down and race in the Bring It On Series!, but realized the University of Kentucky was playing UF Saturday night, so we made a weekend of it. We both raced Saturday afternoon and were overall pleased with our fitness considering it is January! Toward the end of my race a minor hurricane came through leaving me wet and cold. We checked into a cheap motel that allowed our woofs and was able to relax until the 9pm game start. Unfortunately, UK couldn’t pull out the win even after overtime. Sunday we took our time driving home and stopped in St. Mary’s to research our kayak trip to Cumberland Island in March. Enjoy the pictures from the race, UF, and St. Mary’s!

Florida Weekend

Top Ten Ways to NOT Catch a House Guest
10. Don't panic when the flying squirrel is in your living room. You will think of something. You have 4 college degrees between the two of you!9. Chasing him around the house with a broom is not a good idea.
8. Opening all the windows in the house will only attract more critters.
7. Letting the fat out-of -shape cat in the house to take care of the problem will only create a mess you won't want to clean up!
6. He won't leave on his own. Shutting the bedroom door at night with all your food in the "safe zone" only makes you feel better...he is still in the house.
5. Do not, under any circumstance, allow the labs to go squirrel hunting in the house. See #7 regarding messes.
4. The shotgun in the house only has deer slugs in it, again see # 7. (Beware house invaders)
3. Yelling at each other when the squirrel is running around won't make him leave, even though it works on human guests.
2. The humane critter cage from the farm store won't work with just peanut butter. Flying squirrels are smart! After all why would he eat peanut butter when he ate most of your tootsie roll pops.
1. Trapping him in a small room with open windows (a tree conveniently outside), a broom, and two encouraging humans did the trick. Not after squawking by Sean and me as he ran around the room. No tasks it too big for us!

Home for the Holidays
We traveled North to Indiana for Christmas. We were met by frigid 20 degree temperatures, 30 mph winds, and snow. Our transplant southern adapted blood could barley handle the cold. We had a great time with family and friends, although happy with our return to warmer weather.

Barn Raising
The fall is officially over although the temperatures have been in the 70s. Sean finished building the barn (out building) for Andi in Pendleton and I wrapped up the semester at school. We are off to Indiana for Christmas. Will post some frigid pictures to make you Southerners thankful for your sunny skies and warm breezes.
